Wayne Sherlock enjoys Brussels so much, he tried to break a record with them.
And break it, he did, as the 38-year-old ate a whopping 33 Brussels sprouts in just 60 seconds, beating the world record by two.He beat 14 others to snatch the trophy at The Crown Inn pub in Finglehsam, in Kent.A regular customer, Wayne, from Drumconrath, Ireland, said he only took part because he wanted to beat landlord Tony Humphries in the competition.Wayne said: ‘It was a good laugh. I’m a regular in the pub and only took part to challenge Tony for a laugh.
He is now planning to get a sprout tattoo to mark his achievement; It’s going to be a sprout with a crown and the number 33 underneath.The record-breaking trucker says you can’t just stuff it in your mouth, there’s a method to it.‘I just chewed like a pig and while doing that looked around for the smaller sprouts.‘I had some pains in my chest once I’d finished but washed them down with a pint of Fosters.
His efforts were caught on film and will be sent off to the Guinness Book of World Records adjudicators, by Veg UK managing director Julian Pitts, for consideration.
