A Birmingham man was jailed after being caught on his own CCTV cameras engaging in a gun deal. The footage showed him receiving a firearm from a driver before police raided his home.
A 32-year-old man, Suni Masih, was recently sentenced to prison after being caught in the act of participating in a gun deal by his own CCTV system. The incident occurred on August 6th in Winson Green, Birmingham, where Masih was captured on camera leaving his home on Allens Road. He proceeded to receive a bag containing a pistol from a driver in a rented Vauxhall Astra, according to West Midlands Police.
Masih took a photograph of the firearm before a raid on his home by armed officers less than an hour later. In anticipation of the police arrival, Masih discarded the gun outside his residence. It was recovered the following day. The man who supplied Masih with the weapon, Jeremiah Williams, 30, from Wave Close in Walsall, was apprehended a few days after the initial incident. Both Masih and Williams admitted to conspiring to supply firearms and were sentenced at Birmingham Crown Court on Thursday. Det Ch Insp Bryn Robins of West Midlands Police remarked that it was ironic that a CCTV system intended to deter and apprehend criminals ultimately caught its owner committing a serious offense. Robins characterized the gun as 'unusual and extremely dangerous' due to its capability of firing continuously until the ammunition was depleted. While the intended purpose of Masih's possession of the firearm remains unclear, Robins emphasized its potential to inflict death or serious injury
