A video showing a brawl inside a pub in Bootle, Merseyside, has gone viral. Police are investigating the incident.
A brawl inside a pub was captured on video. Merseyside Police confirmed they were called to reports of a disturbance at The Wild Rose pub on Stanley Road in Bootle at around 10.40pm on Monday, December 30. The CCTV , shared widely on social media, begins by showing two groups on separate tables enjoying their drinks. A few moments later a woman can be seen exchanging words with a man on the opposite table. He is sitting with two other men.
A few seconds later the CCTV jumps to show the woman and man face to face. The woman appears to push the man towards the bar and the man can be seen walking backwards as she does this. Another woman then steps in and can be seen trying to break the pair up, while others watch at the events unfold. Moments later the woman can be seen hitting the man with an open palm on his cheek. The man then appears to try and do the same back, however the woman can then be seen swinging her arm and she appears to slap the man's face again. Seconds later, the man can be seen grabbing the woman's hands. As he does this, another man appears to grab the collar of his jumper and tries to punch him. Chaos then ensues and a brawl breaks out while others try and break the fight up. At one point a younger man can be seen grabbing a beer bottle from one of the tables. He can then be seen smashing a beer bottle at the side of the table and swiping it towards one of the men. The video ends by the group running off camera. A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said during the disturbance it was reported a woman was assaulted and suffered minor cuts. They added enquiries into the incident remain ongoing.
