A 26-year-old man, Kyle Clifford, has been charged with the murders of Carol Hunt, Hannah Hunt, and Louise Hunt, the wife and daughters of BBC racing commentator John Hunt. The horrific attack took place in Bushey, Hertfordshire, in July this year.
During Tuesday's episode of BBC Breakfast, presenters Sally Nugent and Jon Kay paused the programme to share some breaking news with viewers.
In addition to being charged for their murders, he has also been charged with one count of false imprisonment and two counts of possession of an offensive weapon. Lisa Ramsarran, chief crown prosecutor for CPS Thames and Chiltern, stated: "Our thoughts remain with the Hunt family and all those who have been affected by this tragic incident.
In an emotional statement, he said: "The devastation that we are experiencing cannot be put into words.
