Liam Canavan was out walking his dog, Blue, when a group of between four and six men, dressed in black, allegedly smashed a window of a block of flats.
A man claims he was forced to defend himself with a javelin after being chased by a baclava-clad gang.
After realising there was blood dripping down his arm, the 28-year-old sprinted back towards his block of flats from the alley next to a children's playground at the end of the close. As he ran into the building, Liam said the balaclava-clad youths followed him and tried to kick the door open. After the altercation, neighbours began to appear and the group ran off towards Cameron Road before Merseyside Police and North West Ambulance Service appeared at the scene.
Discussing the impact the stabbing will have on him, Liam who has lived on the road for nine years with his dad, said: "I know everyone on this estate but when I go the shop I could see one of them without even knowing because they were wearing masks.
