Officers managed to pull him from the canal onto a towpath where paramedics desperately battled to save him.horrorAmbulance Service confirmed they dispatched two ambulances, paramedics, the MERIT trauma doctor and the Hazardous Area Response Team .
A spokeswoman said: “On arrival, crews discovered one patient, a man, who had been pulled from the water by police colleagues and was in a critical condition.“However, despite their best efforts, it sadly became apparent nothing could be done to save the man and he was confirmed dead at the scene.”Sadly he was declared dead at the scene
