Police are carrying out accident investigation work on East Lancashire Road after a serious crash
Emergency services were called to East Lancashire Road at around 11.40pm on Wednesday, November 1. At the scene they found that a man, in his 50s, had crashed a truck into a lamp post.
Merseyside police have confirmed that no other vehicles were involved in the incident. Paramedics took the man to hospital, where he is receiving treatment for serious injuries. Road closures are in place on Liverpool Road, East Lancashire Road and Millfield Lane East while emergency services attend the incident. A spokesperson for Merseyside police said: "We are appealing for information following a road traffic collision yesterday evening, Wednesday 1 November, on the East Lancashire Road in Haydock.
"At around 11.40pm we received a report that a man, in his 50s, driving a truck was in collision with a lamp post. No other vehicles were involved. Paramedics took the man to hospital where he is receiving treatment. "We ask that drivers avoid the area and find an alternative route. We thank you for your patience as we deal with this incident. Anyone who witnessed the collision or captured anything on CCTV or dashcam DM @MerPolCC or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, quoting reference 1134 of 1 November."
