Police in Belfast are investigating an assault that left a man with injuries to his head and leg. The incident occurred in the early hours of Thursday morning when a white and black Audi pulled up outside a licensed premises in the Patterson's Place area. The driver allegedly punched a man before a passenger struck him with a crowbar.

A man sustained injuries to his head and leg following an alleged assault involving a crowbar in Belfast City Centre. Police received a report that sometime between 2am and 3am on Thursday, a white and black coloured Audi pulled up outside a licensed premises in the Patterson’s Place area. The driver reportedly exited the vehicle and punched a man, before a passenger emerged and struck the same man with a crowbar.

Sergeant Young confirmed that a man in his 20s was arrested following the incident at a property in Downpatrick on suspicion of offences including possession of an offensive weapon with intent to commit an indictable offence and assault occasioning actual bodily harm. He has since been released on bail pending further inquiries. Police are appealing to anyone with information, including CCTV or doorbell footage, to contact detectives on 101 quoting reference 144 13/02/24.
