A NSW businessman has made a major blunder that led to more than half $1 million being transferred into the wrong bank account due to a tiny detail, a court has been told. 7NEWS

It was only a month later that he realised his mistake and became aware the money had been paid into the wrong account. The interim judgement shows ANZ informed the man the Commonwealth Bank had made several attempts to contact the customer who owned the bank account to which the funds had gone, but it was to no avail.Messages included in the judgement show the man’s solicitor asking Commonwealth Bank’s lawyers “whether you can tell us whether the money is still in the bank account”.
