Emergency services dealt with two incidents close to each within the space of an hour
A man has been seriously injured after a crash in Stockport town centre. It happened on Great Underbank, where it turns into Chestergate, at around 10am this morning .
A police cordon remained in place until just after 3:30pm. No further details have yet been released. There are as yet unconfirmed reports of an elderly man being struck by a car.A Volkswagen car was seen being loaded onto a low-loading recovery truck inside the cordon shortly before it was lifted. An unrelated fire also broke out close by around an hour after the collision.
