A horrified neighbour called the police after spotting a Leeds man with his ex-girlfriend in a headlock.
"At one stage, he was searching for a key for his bike and she was sat nearby on the sofa... The defendant then began to hit her with his enclosed fists about the head and body, using a free hand to grab and pull her hair. Upon his return, Lee, of Long Row, Horsforth, was arrested and notified to officers he had an item on his person. They discovered a knife measuring around four to five inches, which he claimed was blunt and said he used to "get dirt off his bike".
Mitigating, Jim Littlehales said a pre-sentence report had been carried out for the case. He said: "This is a serious matter. Having said that, he has already served effectively the equivalent of a 12-month sentence. "It is perhaps notable the last time he was released from custody in 2021, when he was released on licence, the report references his engagement and attendance being good throughout and he complied with the licence without further offending and action being required...There is an offer for him to return to his old job. He is still a young man. He is a young man who will have responsibilities towards his child.
