The man accused of killing a woman who was found dead in Tacoma on Wednesday morning made his first court appearance on Thursday.

Court documents say that Tacoma police were called to the North G Apartments in Tacoma at around 2:33 a.m. regarding a death investigation. When officers arrived, Tacoma fire was already at the scene, treating a woman who had a large pool of blood at the top of her head. The woman appeared to have suffered a blunt force trauma to the right side of her face, according to court documents. Tacoma fire officials said when they arrived, they found the woman lying on her stomach and rolled her onto her back to treat her.They later determined that she was dead at around 2:30 a.m., according to court documents. Officers also later confirmed the woman was a resident at the apartment complex.
The suspect told officers that while he was on his "routine route" around 12:45 a.m., he drove near the area where the woman's body was found. However, a security guard who was also at the scene told officers he saw the man rubbing the back of the woman who was lying face down on the ground.
