Manchester United fans have expressed their confusion on social media after Patrick Dorgu's debut saw him deployed as a right-back, despite being signed as a left-footed wing-back. This decision has left many questioning the tactical reasoning, especially considering Diogo Dalot's struggles at left-back this season.
Manchester United fans have been reacting on social media just seconds into Patrick Dorgu 's debut. His new boss, Ruben Amorim , made a couple of signings, bringing in two defenders in the shapes of Dorgu and Ayden Heaven. Dorgu was named in the starting XI as United welcomed Leicester City to Old Trafford in the fourth round of the FA Cup. However, just seconds into the match, United fans have already been left confused as Dorgu lined up on the right-hand side instead of the left.
Reacting on social media, one fan said: 'Dorgu at right-back Dalot at left. This club will never be serious again.' Another tweeted: 'Dalot on the left and Dorgu on the right. I give up.. why?! This is the dumbest decision this season. Dalot have struggled all season to left and when we sign an actual left-footed wing-back we play him on the right?!' A third fan added: 'This has got to be some sort of weird mind game. No way is he keeping Dalot at left wing-back when he's got an actual left wing-back.' Someone else wrote: 'Dorgu starting and Dalot inexplicably on the left AGAIN bro please help me understand, you know more ball than I do please give me a reason to understand this I’m tired and the game has barely started.' Patrick Dorgu made his Manchester United debut against Leicester City on Friday night. Speaking after joining the club, Dorgu said: 'I am incredibly proud to be able to call myself a Manchester United player; this is a very special day for my whole family. I cannot wait to work with Ruben Amorim; his vision for this team and the future of the club is incredibly exciting. There is a clear plan set out for my development, and I feel that Manchester United is the perfect place to fulfil my potential and complete my huge ambitions.
