Luke Shaw has not played a minute of football since suffering a hamstring injury in February but could be set for a return to action in the knockout stages of Euro 2024
Rod Thornley has expressed his concerns about reintroducing Luke Shaw into the England squad following the Manchester United player's injury four months ago.
Although he was included in Gareth Southgate's final squad for Euro 2024, Shaw hasn't yet played for his country in this summer's tournament in Germany. However, he has now declared himself fit enough to take part in the Three Lions' round of 16 match with Slovakia on Sunday. Former Manchester United and England Masseur Thornley has voiced concerns about rushing Luke Shaw back into action at the Euros.
"I was thoroughly expecting him to play 20 or 30 minutes , because that's ideally what you would have wanted, to get some game time before you go into the last 16. Now, I don't know what's going to happen with him. You can't throw him straight in for 90 minutes now. I don't want to jinx us by saying 'we're lucky enough to only have Slovakia in the next round'. Famous last words.
