Andre Onana, Mason Mount and Rasmus Hojlund were signed during the summer transfer window.

There was disappointment tinged with optimism for Manchester United at the final whistle when they signed off for the season's first international break following a gut-wrenching reverse to Arsenal.

Hojlund hustled, bustled and ruffled up a few feathers during his 23-minute cameo. United signed him as the replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo but comparisons with the legendary five-time Ballon d'Or winner, former target Harry Kane and particularly Erling Haaland will have to stop - as pundit Gary Neville explained.

"Martial. We have been watching him for eight or nine seasons now and he's not what Ten Hag needs or wants. This lad [Hojlund], big price tag on him, an encouraging start." A goalkeeper, a midfielder and a striker were Erik ten Hag's priorities heading into the summer window, but injuries early on in the season mean United are in need of further reinforcements.

While further tweaks to his squad will be made along the way, there is a glaring space for another striker to come in to challenge Hojlund and push him for a place in the line-up. Martial has proven time and time again he cannot be relied upon.
