James Kennedy launched a vicious attack on Joanne Gallacher, 33, after she went to his home to check on him hour after going Christmas shopping with her mum Louise in Glasgow.
A man who stabbed his girlfriend to death told medical staff he believed she was planning to harm him, an inquiry heard.
A fatal accident inquiry at Hamilton Sheriff Court heard Kennedy had referred himself to Hairmyres in October that year and reported hearing voices in his head.READ MORE: Glasgow charities and refugee services close doors amid concerns of unrest in city "James described as being able to hear Joanne's thoughts and that she planned to harm him when he was asleep."He reported feeling unsafe saying he is in danger. He said voices in his head were telling him to harm himself."
He was deemed as posing an 'immediate risk' to himself and others and was a 'medium risk' of suicide but had no plans to kill himself.
