Chido Obi-Martin, a 17-year-old forward who joined Manchester United from Arsenal's youth ranks, is reportedly in line for his senior debut due to his impressive performances for the U18s and the struggling form of first-team strikers.
Manchester United could hand a debut to teenage sensation Chido Obi-Martin before the end of the season, according to reports. The 17-year-old, who joined from Arsenal 's youth ranks earlier this year, has been in scintillating form for United's U18s, while first-team strikers Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Hojlund have struggled for form. Despite only turning 17 at the end of November, it is claimed that United are considering giving him his senior debut during the current campaign.
Obi-Martin, who is averaging a goal every 50 minutes in the U18 Premier League, turned down a contract at Arsenal after reportedly demanding first-team opportunities in 2024/25. With the Gunners unable to offer guarantees, United appear ready to give the talented youngster what he wants. After scoring 32 goals in 18 league games for Arsenal's youngsters last term, Obi-Martin is now firmly on course to make an impact under Ruben Amorim. Born and raised in Denmark to Nigerian parents, Obi-Martin has represented Denmark at various youth levels but has also played twice for England U16. During the festive season, a buzz was generated as photos emerged of him donning a vintage England U16 jersey during a training session, shared on his Instagram. It's unclear whether this hints at Obi-Martin pondering a homecoming to the Three Lions' fold, reports the Express. Previously, he spoke of his choice for Denmark: 'I was born in Denmark, and I have better friends in Denmark,' he revealed to Bold. 'I'm just really happy to play for Denmark. In Denmark, I have better team-mates. It's easier to speak the language because I've lived in Denmark longer, so it just makes more sense'
