HOUSTON — A Harris County deputy was shot and killed overnight in the line of duty in northeast Harris County. It happened along Italian Cypress Trail, which is night Tidwell and Beltway 8. At this point, we don’t have details of the shooting, but Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez posted to X that the deputy was on duty at the time.
Gonzalez posted that the deputy was taken to the hospital in critical condition, then later post that the deputy had died. We don’t know the identity of the deputy. Sheriff Gonzalez said the deputy was 28 years old and a five-year veteran of the sheriff’s office.“Our thoughts are with his family as they come to terms with this horrible news,” Gonzalez posted. “An active investigation is underway to identify and apprehend his killer.
