People over 66 on a low income could be eligible for Pension Credit and other discounts or benefits
The Department for Work and Pensions updated income levels earlier this year showing that if you are over 65 and reached State Pension age before April 6, 2016, you could still qualify for Pension Credit if your weekly income is less than £240.90 if you are single and £351.45 if you are a couple. New claims are currently taking 34 working days to process which means first payments, and any arrears, could arrive by the end of August.
Earlier this year, Minister for Pensions Laura Trott, said: “Pension Credit can make a real difference and I am determined to make sure this support - worth an average of £3,500 a year - is reaching everyone who needs it, particularly as we know how much pressure households across the country have been under."
