The Money Saving Expert founder has spoken out after it was revealed that the Winter Fuel Payment will be scrapped for UK households - and he has a warning for certain pensioners
Martin Lewis has issued a stark warning to state pensioners born on or before September 1957. The Money Saving Expert founder and BBC Sounds podcast presenter raised concerns on his website following the UK government's decision to scrap the Winter Fuel Payment.
Another suggested: "Surely there's a compromise where it's either automatic if you get pension credit OR apply for it if household income less than say £25,000? I agree that the current system where very rich pensioners get it is unfair and unsustainable, but there's better ways of doing it." Another person expressed their disappointment, stating: "Targeting the same group of pensioners, my wife and I turned 66 this year both have had to wait additional years for our state pension, we have only just qualified for a bus pass and now no winter fuel allowance,".
