The Money Saving Expert has urged families to act now to get the best deals on supermarket, cashback and bank switches.
Martin Lewis has revealed his 'Christmas cash crackers' which could help families boost their bank accounts in time for the big day. The Money Saving Expert said: 'If we're not careful, the high-spend festive season can leave us with a serious financial hangover come January.
'To get you to use them, they offer you a cut of the money they make. So if there's something you want to buy, and you've checked where it's cheapest, see whether you can buy it via a top cashback site.'But they warn it may take a while to get the cash – anything from a couple of weeks to a few months depending where you spend – so don't assume the money is yours until it's in your bank account.
If you switch to Lloyds, they are currently offering £200, plus a choice of reward including 12 months' Disney+ membership for people who switch to their Club Lloyds account. All you need to do to get £180 cashback is spend on its debit card. It's usually paid out within days of each qualifying purchase you make.
Explaining how it works, the Money Saving Expert team said: 'Supermarket savings schemes encourage year-long saving for Christmas, yet it's possible to get the bonus in just one day.
