The Red Hands came through an extra-time battle against Cavan and have just seven days to prepare for an Ulster SFC semi-final test against Donegal
Relief was the overwhelming emotion felt by the Tyrone players after coming through an extra-time battle with Cavan at Kingspan Breffni on Sunday.
Speaking after the game Mattie Donnelly, who was one of the best players for Tyrone on his first start of the season, stressed that they’ll need to show a huge improvement against Donegal next Sunday after Jim McGuinness’s side knocked holders Derry out of the Ulster Championship last Saturday night.
“It’s advantage Donegal in that regard . Obviously they will be feeling good about themselves after last night, and with having an extra 24 hours recovery, so advantage them but look, we train hard enough we have had a good pre-season to deal with things like that so we’ll not complain but we have to turn things around and get recovered pretty quickly.
“Once they hit us with those two goals, look momentum is a hard thing to fight against when you have that much momentum going against you. It’s a young team, we’re learning.”However, the Trillick ace was back to his brilliant best against Cavan and made a stunning diving block to prevent Ciaran Brady getting a shot at goal in the first half.
