The stunning sunshine for southeast Alaska continues! Temperatures will hit the mid to upper 60s in the region Friday. Southcentral coasts will see clouds and rain, with cloudy skies likely inland. Highs in the upper 40s to lower 50s.

Published: May. 2, 2024 at 5:51 PM AKDTANCHORAGE, Alaska - A quiet day of weather across much of Alaska, even though it did lean toward the cloudy side. Anchorage did see temperatures hit the 50s again. Portage got more than a half inch of rain and Kodiak is coming up on an inch of rain today, last report at .92 inches.

Warm in the interior, and that has rivers breaking up and possible ice jams are being watched. Aniak is seeing some high water. Water levels have been rising in Glennallen too. Water is reported near some roads and buildings. A flood advisory in effect for that area and a flood watch across the rest of the Copper River basin will run through the weekend.

The stunning sunshine for southeast Alaska continues! Temperatures will hit the mid to upper 60s in the region Friday. Nice! But the temperature drops at night have prompted a frost advisory for the northern and central sections. The advisory will be in place for from 2 am to 8 am Friday. Temperatures under freezing will potentially harm or kill sensitive plants.

Low pressure systems provide showers across southern coastal locations as an active weather pattern will continue to influence the state into next week.Cold spot goes to Nuiqsut, Deadhorse and Point Lay, where temperatures dropped to 5 degrees below zero!
