He also won both the Players’ and Scottish Football Writers’ Player of the Year awards. Graham David Convery, head of sporting memorabilia at Graham Budd Auctions, said: “Derek Johnstone is a Rangers legend and 1977-78 was arguably his finest ever season for the club. For any collector of Rangers memorabilia, this medal ticks every box.”
During his time at Ibrox he won three league titles, five Scottish Cups, five League Cups and the European Cup Winners’ Cup before leaving for Chelsea in 1983.
