Bahia and Chui have arrived in time for the Easter Holidays
Knowsley Safari Park has welcomed some brand new friends just in time for Easter. The male and female pair of Andean Bears – the species that inspired Paddington Bear - Chui and Bahia arrived at the park last November, and the keepers have been readying for them to be viewed by the public.
Visitors will instantly notice the difference between the breeding pair, as at 140kg, male Chui is twice the weight and size of female Bahia, who weighs a modest 69kg. Footage captured by the ECHO shows Chui and Bahia exploring their habitat and eating fish. 95% of an Andean Bear’s diet is actually made up of fruits and plant matter, such as melon, sunflower seeds and leaves., but they receive fish on special occasions.
