Chris Minns and his wife Anna spoke to Nine's Peter Overton about balancing family life and politics, and the 'army' of support they lean on to make it happen. 9News

"There's an army of people behind us as well, our mums, friends, lots of family support," Anna added."Feeling excited, 20 odd days to go, so I think we're ready but it's stressful and it's a full-on sort of endeavour," Minns said.As for raising three boys and how they deal with dad's fame, it seems humour is the key.

"And talk up Dominic Perrottet whenever they get the chance - for some reason, one of them has got a real affinity for our premier."Minns' seat of Kogarah is one of the most marginal in the country, but he's convinced he'll hold onto it."This is our community, and we feel really passionate about our community."

The couple met through the Labor Party and while she's not a public figure in the same way Minns is, she's playing an essential role behind the scenes. "If I've had a really tough interview - or something's gone bad - the first phone call I make is to Anna," Minns said. "We've been together for so long - we've nearly spent more years together than we have apart - we met when we were young and almost it's a joint venture for us I think.""Someone who I've become really good friends with lately is Jodie Haydon - she's Albo's partner and she gives really good advice."

Premier has been ‘buck-passing’ healthcare issues: Chris MinnsPremier has been ‘buck-passing’ healthcare issues: Chris MinnsNSW Opposition leader Chris Minns claims Premier Dominic Perrottet has constantly been “buck-passing” issues related to the state’s healthcare. Mr Minns said the Premier’s main response to healthcare issues is calling them a “federal government responsibility”. “This election can’t be about buck-passing, and what you have seen from New South Wales Labor is policy initiatives and ideas and money on the table to make a difference for what we can control,” he said during a media conference on Monday. “They have had 12 years to fix chronic problems in the emergency departments and ICU units in New South Wales hospitals, they have had many months, many years, to deal with the 100,000 people that are on the elective surgery waiting list. “And frankly, blaming it all on the Commonwealth government is not going to fix a thing.”

Upcoming state election is ‘Chris Minns’ to lose’Upcoming state election is ‘Chris Minns’ to lose’The upcoming state election is “Chris Minns’ to lose”, according to The Australian’s Chief Political Correspondent Geoff Chambers. “I think he’s run a pretty good campaign to date … Labor is sort of perfecting this type of campaign where they match the Coalition on policies and they try to say to voters don’t worry about us it’s not going to be scary, we’re not going to go down the same route as we’ve done in previous governments,” he told Sky News host Sharri Markson. “So he’s got a really sort of energetic appeal coming off the back of three terms of Liberal rule, four Premiers, plenty of scandals. “So I think this election is Chris Minns’ to lose, but in saying that, we always see things tighten up as we head towards polling day.”
