The ECHO has been surveying commuters on their local train services

Hundreds of people have entered the survey, giving their thoughts on the good and bad of the train services they use most in their daily lives. The survey is still ongoing, though so far it has seen one train operator, Northern Rail, issue an apology after commuters complained of "endless" cancellations and other problems.

Another commuter on the Southport line said: "I use the Southport line and they need to put more six carriage trains on as they get so packed."One commuter, who lives in Kirkby and works in Bootle said they have been waiting "weeks and weeks" for the Kirkby lines to return to their ordinary 15 minute timetable.

Yet, many commuters said they were happy with their local train services. One person, who called their local Merseyrail service "incredibly reliable," said: "The vast majority of the time they are on-time, clean, well staffed. Feels like the trains are busier at rush hour times than a few months ago.
