Some outlets have said a Saharan plume could spark a UK heatwave
The Met Office has delivered its official verdict amid reports a Saharan plume could bring scorching temperatures to the UK later this month.
Currently, experts at the Met Office predict some mixed conditions for the rest of this week and into Monday, May 20, with highs of 18C and lows of 10C in Liverpool. The Met Office's long-range UK forecast for May 18-27 currently predicts temperatures to be "around or a little above average". Here is the forecast in full for this period: "Changeable with showers developing by day across the UK through the end of the week and over the weekend . "Over the weekend there are signs that showers may start to ease across the north with drier, more settled conditions probably becoming established for a time here. Confidence lowers into the following week with signals mixed.
