The Met Office has hinted that summer may finally have arrived in Nottingham with a prediction of weeks of warmer-than-average temperatures. Forecasters said temperatures could reach as high as 24C on Wednesday, August 16, with it feeling 'very warm'.
Dry conditions are expected to last through until at least Tuesday, August 22 with just the chance of the odd, isolated shower. Temperatures of 23C are also forecast for Saturday, August 19 and Sunday, August 20. The Met Office forecast for Wednesday, August 16 reads: "Early fog patches clearing quickly across the region to give a day of plenty of sunshine, with some patchy cloud developing late morning. Feeling very warm in the sunshine with light winds. Maximum temperature 24C."Thursday, August 17 is expected to be similar with 'plenty of sunshine across the region', the Met Office said. There will be windy spells on Friday but temperatures are expected to remain in the mid-twenties.
The long-range forecast for August 20 until August 29 also suggests the warm weather may last through the August bank holiday weekend but with a chance of thunderstorms. It states: "Temperatures are expected to remain on the warmer side of average, probably becoming hot in the southeast for a time next week, with the potential for a thundery breakdown. As we head towards the end of the period we will likely see a return to unsettled conditions and further heavy showers and thunderstorms.
