Heavy winds are predicted to hit the region
Spring has brought mixed weather so far as sunny spells have been disrupted by rain showers. The forecasters predicted warmer conditions will arrive over the weekend with temperatures expected to reach the low twenties in the South East of England and 16C in Merseyside.
However, the forecasting agency has now said the region will also see heavy winds as it has issued a yellow alert across areas of the North West. Merseyside is one of the regions impacted but the alert is in force off the coast.The alert is in force from 8am - 10pm on Saturday as the Met Office warned: "A deep area of low pressure will bring a spell of very windy weather to western areas this weekend.
"There is a small chance that injuries and danger to life could occur from large waves and beach material being thrown onto sea fronts, coastal roads and properties There is a small chance of longer, or even cancelled journeys, as road, rail, air and ferry services are affected" The Saturday forecast for Liverpool said: "Cloudy changing to sunny intervals by lunchtime" The outlook across the North West from Saturday - Monday said: "A windy weekend, with gales on Saturday perhaps giving some travel disruption. Showery at times, but generally somewhat drier than of late with sunny spells. Temperatures above the seasonal average.
