Lancashire faces another round of winter weather with a new 18-hour ice warning issued by the Met Office. The warning, covering parts of Lancashire, Greater Manchester, Cheshire, Merseyside, the West Midlands and Wales, comes amidst ongoing sub-zero temperatures, widespread snow and ice, leading to travel disruptions.
The Met Office has issued a new 18-hour weather warning for parts of Lancashire. It comes in the midst of a deep freeze with ongoing sub-zero temperatures, plus widespread snow and ice. Lancashire has seen major disruption with roads and schools closed in recent days. Temperatures are expected to drop to as low as -10C in eastern areas of the county overnight, however it could feel like -15C. Unsurprisingly, another warning for ice has now been issued.
The warning covers western areas of the region, including West Lancashire. It comes into force at 4pm today and lasts for 18 hours, until 10am on Friday. The warning also covers Greater Manchester, Cheshire, Merseyside, the West Midlands and Wales. People are urged to take care and expect travel disruption on Friday morning. A Met Office spokesperson added: Scattered wintry showers on Thursday evening will slowly fade overnight, leading to the risk of icy patches on untreated surfaces as temperatures fall below freezing. Isolated snow accumulations of 2-4 cm will be possible, more especially in Wales on hills above 150m elevation
