September is going to be a washout, but there may be hope for October
Despite a September heatwave, temperatures have made a turn over the weekend as Liverpool was hit with heavy rainfall. And the wet weather is looking like it will continue through the week.
According to the Met Office, it will be a wet start to Monday, with some thunder likely, but there will be sunny intervals as we head into the afternoon. There will be a maximum temperature of 17C before turning cooler into the night.READ MORE: Marks & Spencer's 'waterproof' £35 boots that are 'stylish' and 'great for wet dog walks'
Similarly, Tuesday will see heavy downpour turning to cloudy in the afternoon. And it is a similar story across the UK, with some regions experiencing thunderstorms and weather warnings. However, looking at the Met Office's long range forecast, October could be "above average". For the remainder of September, we are likely to see "more unsettled" conditions which will bring outbreaks of rain, with some heavy bursts at times, as well as some strong winds.
However, despite confidence in the general trend for October being "low", the Met Office predicts: "It looks like there is an increased chance of more settled conditions developing, but this doesn't rule out spells of more changeable weather within this. Overall, temperatures are more likely to be above average than below, with an increased chance compared with normal of some warm spells, but also some cooler nights.
