Many of us would love some more hot and sunny days - here's what the Met Office has said
The Met Office has given its long-range forecast for the UK amid reports of an Indian Summer bringing temperatures of over 30C.
Expert meteorologists have said we can expect highs of 20C in Liverpool this week, though with little sunshine. Looking further ahead, the Met Office forecast predicts the period from September 18-27 to be "predominantly unsettled".We can also expect "fairly widespread rain or thundery showers" followed by, likely, "more of an Atlantic influence" which will create the risk of "strong winds and heavy rain".
As we move into October, the Met Office forecast reads: "Confidence remains low however there are signals emerging of low pressure often being centred to the west of the UK, with higher pressure close to or just east of the UK, indicating a greater chance of more in the way of settled conditions. To put this into context, the average for Merseyside in September is between 11.22C and 17.68C, while in October it falls between 8.47C and 14.24C.
