The Met Office has issued an urgent storm warning, advising households to securely fasten doors and windows as Ernesto is set to bring powerful winds and heavy rain to the UK.
The Met Office, bracing for high winds reaching up to 70mph, has issued a stark warning for households to "securely fasten doors and windows" as the tempestuous weather is set to buffet Britain later this week. Gale-force storms are projected to sweep the nation from Thursday, per WXCharts maps, with the gales encompassing most regions by Friday.
Ahead of the stormy conditions, they recommend: "Close and securely fasten doors and windows, particularly those on the windward side of the house, and especially large doors such as those on garages." "Yet another storm will follow right on the heels of Ernesto from Thursday to Friday. Once again, the bulk of the rain from the late-week storm will focus from Ireland and Northern Ireland to Scotland and northern England with lesser showers farther to the south over Wales and southern England."
The Met Office five-day forecast anticipated largely dry conditions across southern and central regions with spells of hazy sunshine. Conversely, Scotland, Northern Ireland, and parts of north Wales and North West England will see rain spreading in, turning heavy and prolonged over the hills.
