Cold air from the Arctic is being pummelled southwards across the UK, sending the mercury tumbling
Brits are bracing for a wintry week ahead as an Arctic blast is set to bring snow, frost, and a significant drop in temperatures.
She said this means "showers, some sunshine and a cold wind". The wet weather will continue overnight and become more frequent across northern and western areas of the UK while frost might be seen in some areas in the morning as temperatures drop. Mr Vautrey said: "We could see some patchy frost developing in rural areas across all nations of the UK, particularly Scotland. For people waking up on Friday morning it could be quite a shock to the system as they're walking out of the door.
Ms Nasir added: "A ridge of high pressure is moving in, so a cold start, with a localised frost, but with that we'll see some sunshine. All change though as we head into the weekend from the north west."
