Bad 'summer' weather has been ongoing
The Met Office has issued a Yellow Warning for thunderstorms that spans the entire region and is in effect from 11am until 8pm this evening .
The forecasters are warning os “heavy showers and thunderstorms may lead to some flooding and disruption”. A graphic tweeted by the Met Office they are predicting 15 to 25mm of rain falling in an hour and “perhaps 40mm in places”. According to one meterological source a heavy shower would be defined as “greater than 10 mm per hour, but less than 50 mm per hour”.
The latest warning comes amid ongoing showery weather. Yesterday the Met Office outlined how we were experiencing "some very unpleasant 'summer' weather". For all the latest news, visit the Belfast Live homepage here and sign up to our daily newsletter here.
