Short term loss of power and other services is a possibility
A yellow weather warning for wind has been in place since 6:25am and is expected to last until 10pm tonight, April 15, for the whole of the North West. The Met Office has warned coastal areas, sea fronts and coastal communities will be affected by spray and large waves.
The warning comes less than a week after the region was battered by high winds which, combined with high tides, caused flooding in New Brighton, and saw cars, homes and businesses in West Kirby damaged by flood waters despite the new £20m sea wall being in place.Read more: NHS 'concerning' advice as people told to 'be aware'
The Met Office goes on to warn that delays to road, rail air and ferry and transport are likely, and that short term loss of power and other services is also expected. As well as the winds, there is forecast to be blustery showers, which will be heavy at times with the chance of hail and the odd rumble of thunder.
