Mike Dean to be presented with ‘Golden Card’ in final Premier League game before retirement
Referee Mike Dean will be presented with a ‘Golden Card’ by Premier League bosses in the final game of the season before his retirement.
He will take charge of either Liverpool’s clash against Wolves at Anfield, or Man City’s game against Aston Villa at the Etihad Stadium. To date, Dean has taken charge of 553 Premier League matches and handed out 114 red cards – more than any other official.“Mike has been an iconic figure in officialdom for the past two decades and it is important to celebrate his retirement appropriately”, a PGMOL spokesman said.
“Contrary to reports and speculation, I have been offered no VAR role at all, that is just word of mouth I think,” he told Sky Sports.
