NSW Premier Chris Minns has pledged to support the survivors and the families impacted by the horror Hunter Valley bus crash by making a generous donation through his discretionary fund.

The NSW government made the announcement on Wednesday to provide relief and support to survivors and the families impacted by the tragedy.

When asked by reporters if the government was planning to hold a public memorial for the victims, Mr Minns said there were planned discussions with the Mayor of Singleton and Mayor of Cessnock. Mr Minns said the government will work with family support officers from NSW Police and NSW Health to ensure victims are aware of how they can access funds.

"Thank you, Premier, for... your level of reaching out to us has been phenomenal... and your generous donation to the Rotary fund," she said at the press conference. Another 25 were taken by road or helicopter to surrounding hospitals suffering from minor injuries to severe head and neck trauma, as well as broken bones.

The driver, Brett Andrew Button, 58, appeared at Cessnock Local Court on Tuesday morning handcuffed alongside his wife and mother, who attended to support him.
