Celtic and Kyogo Furuhashi have received an apology from Major League Soccer after they wrongly claimed that the Japanese striker had joined Atlanta United.
The US club, who are coached by former Celtic manager Ronny Delia, have recently been linked with a move for the 29-year-old, who is under contract until 2027. And a story claiming that Atlanta had "acquired" Kyogo was published on the MLS website on Wednesday before being swiftly removed. Around the same time, Atlanta announced they had signed former Japan youth international Cayman Togashi.
And, in a statement issued to the Press Association, MLS said they "mistakenly posted an article that named the wrong player as having signed with an MLS club".
