Connor Roberts said one of the first experiences which planted a Leeds United seed in his head was the return of Garry Monk to Elland Road as Middlesbrough boss in 2017
Returns to Elland Road with scorned colleagues were enough to convince Connor Roberts that Leeds United was the place for him. Roberts was on the pitch when Garry Monk returned for the first time after leaving in 2017 and when Daniel James came back two weeks after his failed 2019 transfer.

It was like ‘This is brilliant’ and then playing for Swansea DJ when he didn't sign the first time and then came back.
“A lot of people say ‘I was a Leeds fan and I’d love to play for Leeds,'" he said. "I wasn't a Leeds fan, don't get me wrong, but from when I started playing football and experienced Elland Road and what Leeds is all about, I can honestly say I've said to many players, I'd love to play for Leeds.
