Parents in the Montrose area are angry after some recent changes at Houston ISD. They’re worried their kids won’t be able to attend their neighborhood school.
Parents are worried their kids won’t be able to attend their neighborhood school. This concern was caused by a motion passed by the HISD school board last week. Parents are upset their children will not automatically be allowed to attend their neighborhood school, Wharton Dual Language Academy. Many parents said they only moved to the area for the school.
On Tuesday, parents organized a meeting to voice their concerns to one board member, Adam Rivon, who also lives in the area. The district said students already enrolled there will get to stay, but anyone else who wants to enroll even if they live in the school zone needs to contact the district.
