More wintry showers could fall over our region tonight and into the early hours of tomorrow
The Met Office has issued a new snow and ice weather warning for Greater Manchester ahead of more wintry showers for our region.
Wintry showers are expected to start again from later this afternoon, into the evening and overnight into the early hours as temperatures plummet to just 1C. A mix of snow and sleet is forecast for Greater Manchester, before rain showers are set to sweep over on Friday morning. As well as Greater Manchester, the new warning also covers parts of Scotland, the East Midlands, the east and north east of England, other parts of the North West, Wales, the West Midlands and Yorkshire and Humber.
"Where these occur 2-5cm of fresh snow is possible, with this most likely on ground above 100m. Icy stretches are expected to form on untreated surfaces during Thursday evening and overnight into Friday morning as temperatures drop below freezing, especially following any showers."
