Athletes from around the world have traveled to Cleveland this week to compete in the Pan-American Masters Games and make new friends along the way.
Pan-American Masters GamesJose Aparicio traveled from El Salvador to take part in the games, which are an international multi-sport event that rotates throughout the world for athletes ages 30 and older.
Wenger compared the games to the Olympics, which start next week, because it connects people across state lines and borders. “I had my volunteer shirt on, he had his uniform on and I just knew I needed to help him. I pulled over and told him and his friend, who was from Australia, to hop in my car and I would get them where they needed to go,” she said. “We’ve been using Google Translate to communicate mostly, but we’ve become fast friends.”
