Danyil Demchuk, of Motherwell, is alleged to have been in possession 'of information likely to be useful to a person committing or preparing an act of terrorism'.

Danyil Demchuk, understood to be a refugee from Ukraine, appeared at Paisley Sheriff Court on Friday , charged with committing various terrorism offences in Scotland. The 21-year-old was arrested following an investigation by Police Scotland .

He faces four charges under the same section of the Terrorism Act 2000, the Daily Record reports. The section states that "a person commits an offence if" they "collect or make a record of information of a kind likely to be useful to a person committing or preparing an act of terrorism ". The section in question - 58 - also states that it is an offence for someone to be in possession of "a document or record containing information of that kind". Demchuk appeared in private at Paisley Sheriff Court.

He made no plea to the four charges against him. The case was continued for prosecutors to investigate further and he was released on bail. No future court dates have been set, but he is expected to go on trial over the claims at some point next year.Sign up to our daily Glasgow Live newsletter here to receive news and features direct to your inbox.
