More than 10,000 people have signed a petition calling for three centres to be saved.
Mountain bikers are campaigning to save three visitor centres and get more investment in trails across the country.
But a petition of more than 13,000 signatures says closure “would have a far-reaching negative impact on the local economy, environment, and community well-being".The Senedd’s petitions committee will discuss the issue on Monday. Ynyslas’ centre has an exhibition on the Dyfi Nature Reserve, a shop selling snacks and drinks, and toilets.
"If visitor numbers are impacted greatly, those business may not survive long enough to see those centres open again.”Summit Cycles, a bike shop based in Aberystwyth, Ceredigion, helped build some of the trails at Nant yr Arian. The worst possible thing if a centre like this is mothballed and all the momentum is lost."Ynyslas does not have bike trails but the boardwalks through the sand dunes are very popular.
