Gardeners have been urged to use a 20p product to help their tomato plants reach their full potential. The bathroom essential can prevent leaf curling and improve calcium uptake
Gardening can be a deeply satisfying hobby, but the fickle nature of British springtime can often impede the growth of vegetables like tomatoes. Shoppers are accustomed to spotting an array of tomato varieties, from the juicy plum to the sweet cherry types, on the aisles of their local supermarkets.
"Magnesium also helps prevent leaf curling and with calcium helps prevent blossom end rot. Add two tablespoons of Epsom salt to the planting hole before planting tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers and melons." A third member added: "Yes, I'm all for using Epsom salt in the garden, especially on my tomato plants. It gives them a real boost. Not only did it improve the taste and size of the plant it also helped fix yellow leaves that developed on my plant."
