Several roads were closed off in Lancaster city centre following a multi-vehicle collision on Wednesday evening. The incident, which involved a purple BMW and a black Volkswagen, caused damage to both vehicles and debris was scattered across the street.
Emergency services were called to the scene of the collision in Lancaster city centre on Wednesday evening . The incident on Church Street involved 'multiple vehicles' and several roads were closed off, including Bulk Road, Parliament Street, Owen Road and North Road.
Pictures shared on social media showed damage caused to a purple BMW and a black Volkswagen. The BMW had collided with the corner of a building on Church Street leaving the front of the vehicle smashed and debris on the floor.The Volkswagen's front tyre was also punctured during the incident which was reported at around 7.30pm. It resulted in traffic chaos in the area with surrounding routes gridlocked.
In a statement, Lancaster Area Police said: "Please be aware we have multiple road closures in Lancaster city centre following a multiple vehicle road traffic collision. This includes Bulk Road, Parliament Street, Owen Road and North Road.In an update on social media this morning , the force said: "** ROADS RE-OPENED ** Good evening, Please be aware the earlier road closures in Lancaster City Centre have now all been re-opened following a multiple vehicle Road Traffic Collision.
