Mum Donna Sinclair, who earlier this year launched the Kaya Foundation to give families the option of fast-track tests to avoid lengthy NHS waiting lists, is planning a special carnival to celebrate her daughter on what would have been her 20th birthday.
A carnival is to be held in honour of the 20th birthday of a Glasgow teen who died after complaining of stomach pain.
Kaya was eventually rushed to A&E in April after she started to pass blood in her urine and was given antibiotics with doctors believing she was suffering from kidney stones. Just weeks later she was back at hospital and was found to have irregularities in her blood - which was later discovered to be cancer following tests.
The event which is due to be hosted at the Shed from 7pm on Sunday, June 16, will feature live music, a club night and a fashion show. Special guests will include Lauren Spiteri and David Whitelaw, along with Kya's dad appearing as DJ from 7pm. Speaking about the event, the mum said: "She loved festivals and going abroad to listen to music. It felt like a fitting event to do for her birthday. We did a similar event last year and it was a great success."I decided to do it again because its a great way to bring everyone together, especially her friends. It should be good brining everyone together for a celebration of her.
