Two teenagers, now aged 15 and 17, have been charged with murder
The murder trial following the death of Fred Shand in Northampton will start today . Two teenagers, now aged 15 and 17, were charged with murder after the death of a 16-year-old in Northampton earlier this year.
Affectionately known as Fred by his family and friends, Rohan Shand, of Northampton, sadly died following an incident near the Cock Hotel in Harborough Road at about 3.35pm on Wednesday, March 22. The trial, at Northampton Crown Court, is expected to last at least two weeks and is due to hear evidence from a number of witnesses, many of who are under the age of 18. Special measures will be in place at court and it is believed that the jury will be sworn in on Monday.
However, the opening of the case will not take place until Wednesday . Due to the age of the defendants and the automatic reporting restrictions that will be in place, no materials shown in court will be released until such time as those restrictions are lifted.
